Next stop: American Idol Season 17. Kate’s one of the artists to announce she auditioned for the show.

Here’s more about Kate, 22, who describes herself as a jazz/blues, indie/pop singer-songwriter on her Facebook page.

* She was raised in a small town in northern Georgia, according to her Facebook bio, and is now a full-time musician based in Atlanta.

* Kate started singing in church and eventually got involved in musical theater, school talent shows and voice recitals. She picked up her dad’s acoustic guitar in middle school and started using it to write her own music.

* By age 18, according to that bio, she had written more than 100 songs, dropped out of school and headed to Nashville to explore a career as a songwriter. While there, she competed in the 2014 Nashville Rising Star competition and made it to the semifinals.

* After six months in Nashville, she returned to Georgia, put together a band and started performing professionally. She released her first single, “It Was Love” in 2015.

* She lists her influences as Amy Winehouse, Norah Jones, Stevie Wonder, John Mayer and Emily King.
