Katherine Ann Mohler from The Voice Season 21

Her audition Katherine Ann Mohler, 22, of Memphis, Tenn., performed “We Don’t Have to Take Our Clothes Off” by Ella Eyre: She was on the song’s final notes when Ariana Grande and Blake Shelton turned. Ariana called her voice phenomenal, but said she could tell Katherine was a bit nervous. Katherine opted to join Team Ariana.

Here’s more about Katherine.

* This won’t be her first time appearing on a televised talent competition. In 2016, she was one of 11 members singing with the Briarcrest Christian School’s One Voice a cappella group on Season 11 of America’s Got Talent.

* The 22-year-old hails from a musical family. Her sisters Lauren and Caroline also sing and her mom’s YouTube channel features the three of them performing “Amazing Grace” together.

* In 2018, she was runner-up for best high school solo in the Contemporary A Cappella Awards (the Grammys of vocal music). She won the award for her vocal on a cover of “Islands” by Sara Bareilles, which you can check out below.

* Katherine was also part of the Memphis, Tenn.-based group when they won the Macy’s a cappella challenge.

* In high school, she was also involved in musical theater and named first chair in the all-state Tennessee Honors Choir.

* After graduating, she was part of a Memphis-based a cappella group named June at one point.

* According to her bio on the group’s Facebook page, her inspiration to pursue music came from her admiration of The Swingles, The Staves (a folk trio from England) and Bon Iver.

* She has studied at the University of Arkansas and the University of Memphis, graduating from the latter last summer in a cap-less graduation thanks to the pandemic and writing “see you in a couple days, grad school.”

* As a solo artist, she describes herself as a pop singer song-writer. “My music incorporates song elements from many different artists; Ariana Grande (Contemporary/Pop) and YEBBA (Indie/R&B) both showcase vocal abilities similar to my own, while Olivia Rodrigo and Lennon Stella share an overall sound that I aim to incorporate in my music.”

* She adds: “My desire is to create music that best represents the individual that I am: bold, colorful, vibrant, creative, and captivating but still remaining soft, authentic, thought-provoking, intelligent, and emotional.”

* Katherine Ann told Voice Views she hasn’t released music yet, “but you can absolutely expect to hear something by me very very soon!”
