Here’s more about Lauren.
* She describes herself as a pop, soul and R&B singer-songwriter.
* In her Facebook bio, Lauren says she’s wanted to be a singer since elementary school. “Ever since I could remember, that was my one and only goal in life,” she says.
* Well, other than soccer. Lauren had played competitively since age 5 and earned a soccer scholarship to college. She attended Ball State University.
* That didn’t leave lots of time for music. But she got to sing the national anthem before a game and a story about it wound up appearing in the local newspaper.
* Lauren told The Voice: “That’s when I decided I don’t want to be the soccer player who sings anymore. I want to be the singer.”
* She’s from Chicago, but says she made the risky decision to move to L.A. to pursue music a little more than three years ago. She works as a server to help cover her expenses.
* Here’s what she writes about that experience: “I had a blueprint of a plan. I spent time running around like a chicken with its head cut off. I’ve faced hardships. I’ve celebrated success. I’ve fallen and I have risen. most important of all, I’ve learned so much about myself.”
* During her time in L.A., she says she’s had the privilege of playing in some of the city’s “most iconic music venues.”
* She released her debut single, “Rainy Day in the City,” in May. Check it out below.
* Fun fact from her Instagram: She said she felt like she was experiencing writer’s block for a year before penning this tune, then completed it in just over three hours.
