Louis Knight is among the talented singers announcing that he auditioned.
Here’s more about Louis:
* He was born in London, but is now a singer-songwriter based in the Philadelphia, Pa., area.
* By becoming a musician, Louis is following the footsteps of his father, who was in a rock band for 15 years.
* Louis said he began writing songs at age 14 and released an EP to family and friends when he was a junior in high school, according to this article in Philadelphia Weekly.
* He took the big step of releasing his music to the public within the past year, beginning with the song “Just Kiss Me,” about the end of a long-term high school relationship.
* He followed that up with a song called “Change.” It’s one he wrote about the suicide of a good friend when they were both attending Lower Merion High School.
* Louis told Philadelphia Weekly: “I wrote it as a tribute to him, and hopefully to give hope to other people that are suffering mentally.” Check out the song below.
* He said proceeds from the song will be presented to the Philadelphia chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. He also performed the song at the organization’s “Out of the Darkness Greater Philadelphia Walk” in October.
* By that time, he had released his true debut EP, “Small Victories.” Wrote Louis on Instagram: “I wrote this EP about the last year and half of my life. It’s crazy to think how many years I’ve been working towards this day. I’ve had to grow a lot as a person and an artist/songwriter/performer and I’m continuing to do so.”
* In an Idol promo, Louis is shown playing piano and singing. Luke Bryan’s reaction: that Louis might be “the biggest star we’ve ever had on American Idol.”
