Walker Burroughs auditioned for American Idol Season 17.

But you might say it was received pretty well, generating nearly 400,000 streams on Spotify as of Feb. 5.

Now Walker will be taking his musical talents to American Idol. He’s one of the artist to announce that he auditioned for Season 17.

Here’s more about Walker:

* He graduated from Vestavia Hills High School in Birmingham, Ala., and now attends Belmont University in Nashville where he’s majoring in music education.

* Walker made local TV news two years ago with his promposal to girlfriend India Ellison. He showed up with flowers and a seven-piece backing band, The Mutton Chops, to perform “Stand by Me” with slightly altered lyrics.

* “I heard the trombone start, so I knew it was going to be Walker (at her door),” India says in the video clip. “I didn’t know what it was though.” According to the story, he was drum major for the Vestavia Hills marching band for two years.

* At Belmont, he’s a member of The Beltones, an acapella group and “the community that has helped me get through my first year of college,” walker writes on Instagram.

* Now, as for that original song, it’s called “The Moon Song” and it was released in late June, meaning those 400,000 streams have come in about six months. You can check it out below.

* Writes Walker on Instagram: “Since I wrote it a few years ago, this song has meant something a little different to me in every stage of life and relationship. My hope is that some of you will need these words as much as I did, do, and will. I hope that you will listen to this song in the car at night by yourself, or around a fire with your friends. Get lost and feel intentionally distant my friends.”
