NariYella turned four chairs and Grace West became the last-ever singer to join Team Blake during the final blind audition show of The Voice Season 23 Tuesday night.
Nari opted to join Team Chance, giving him a pair of four-chair turn artists heading into next week’s battle round. The other is former American Idol contestant Savion Wright, who goes by the stage name NOIVAS.
The only other coach with two four-chair turns on his team is the show’s other rookie coach, Niall Horan, who landed Ross Clayton and Ryley Tate Wilson during the blinds.
Kelly Clarkson lured Cait Martin to her team during Monday’s episode. Wrapping up his 23rd and last Voice season, Blake landed Neil Salsich among the singers who turned all four chairs.
Meanwhile, The Voice’s decision to montage Alyssa Lazar on Monday’s show became even more curious. She wound up being the only one of the 40 contestants who made the show to be montaged.
Meanwhile, the show aired full auditions of two more singers who failed to turn chairs Tuesday night, meaning 11 auditioners who didn’t earn a spot on the show were featured during the Season 23 blinds.
That’s shameful, Voice producers. I mean, seriously, you couldn’t have aired Alyssa and left one of those 11 on the cutting room floor instead.
Here’s the recap of Tuesday’s show:
BEST OF THE NIGHT
Nari Yella, 20, Elkins Park, Pa., “One Night Only” from Dreamgirls: Nari showed off a great tone from the opening note. And when her vocals went big, Kelly Clarkson and Chance the Rapper turned their chairs. Nari kept getting more impressive vocally and wound up with the sixth four-chair turn of Season 23. She showed great stage presence too. Niall called her performance insane and complimented her on how comfortable she seemed on stage. Blake Shelton called her voice shockingly good. Nari decided to join Team Chance.
RUNNER-UP
Grace West, 19, Kent, Michigan, “Maybe It Was Memphis,” by Pam Tillis: Grace showed off a great country tone. And the second she hit the chorus, Blake Shelton and Niall Horan turned. Niall called her voice impeccable and predicted people in America will love her. Blake said he hears Pam Tillis in her voice and called her a great female country artist. Grace opted to join Team Blake, completing his final team on The Voice.
ALSO MADE THE SHOW
Katie Beth Forakis, 25, Savannah, Tenn., “Ghost” by Justin Bieber: Katie showed off a sweet tone throughout and earned chair turns from Kelly Clarkson and Niall Horan midway through her performance. The teams of Blake and Chance were already full when she performed. Niall called her performance “beautiful.” Kelly complimented the way she reworked a popular pop song. Katie Beth decided to join Team Kelly.
Talia Smith, 29, Queens, N.Y., “Don’t You Worry Bout a Thing” by Tori Kelly: Talia delivered an impressive a cappella opening. And as soon as the faster beat kicked in, Niall Horan turned, earning Talia the very last spot on Season 23. “What a way to complete a team,” said Niall, complimented Talia on the energy she brought to the stage.
