New Kimberly Caldwell interview on Walmart Risers

Kimberly CaldwellUpdate: “Holy Bananas! My album out tomorrow!” So tweeted Kimberly Caldwell earlier today. Holy, bananas indeed. It’s been eight years since she was eliminated from Idol. Eight years waiting for a debut album. That’s a lot of anticipation. Her interview about the album is still available at Walmart Risers, where you can order the album and a remix CD of “Desperate Girls and Stupid Boys.”

One of the best April Fool’s jokes I saw on Twitter this year came courtesy of Season Two American Idol contestant Kimberly Caldwell.

She announced that her long-awaited, often-delayed debut album had been delayed again.

Then followed quickly with … “Nah! April Fools.”

Hey, give the gal credit for having a sense of humor.

The album, “Without Regret,” will arrive in stores April 19, more than a year after originally promised, but full of promise.

That’s if you consider the singles we’ve heard so far — “Mess of You” and “Desperate Girls and Stupid Boys” — both pop-rock tunes well served by Kimberly’s raspy vocals.

And Kimberly is featured on the Walmart Risers site this month, where you can pre-order the album for $9 and get a free download of “Desperate Girls.”

That means you can head there and listen to a 5-minute interview of Kimberly talking about her background and the “long journey” that led to the album. Oh, and listen to an acoustic version of “Desperate Girls.”

“From the moment I popped into this world, I’ve been an entertainer,” she says. “If there was a camera around, I was the one jumping in front, ‘Look what I can do.'”

Here’s an out-take from the interview.
