Here’s a bit more about each of those releases.

* Nelly’s Echo from Season 3 released “Calling on You” on New Year’s Day. He calls it “a song I’m truly very proud of, and could not wait to share with the world. This song was truly a remote and remarkable collaboration amongst several amazing musicians” — Vahagan Stepanyan, Yoed Nir, Glenn Welman and Sami Turunen — “most of whom I’d never met before.” Nelly’s wife, Kendra J., provides background vocals.

* Matthew Schuler from Season 5 released “Dahlia” on Christmas Day, but it’s not a Christmas tune. The guy who describes himself as an alt-pop story teller ended 2020 strong, also releasing a single called We Rule the Night” and an intriguing cover of “Soul to Take.”

* Ryan Whyte Maloney from Season 6 released the power ballad “Never Again” on Christmas Day. “Me and my good friend Tom Goldsbury put our heads together and made a song that we thing is pretty cool,” Ryan writes on social media. Goldsbury is the writer of “Never Again.” And there’s a lyric video too.

* Joe Vivona from Season 10 released his first single since the show (“Spellbound”) earlier this month. To celebrate the arrival of 2020, he re-released a set of four a cappella covers called “Parish.” Joe covers Justin Timberlake, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Miguel and “Hallelujah” on the project.
