So with Season 19 of The Voice in the rearview mirror, I figured it was time to follow the members of that talented cast on Spotify.
In the process, I discovered that four Season 19 standouts — Tamryn Papa, James Pyle, Kelsie Watts and Lain Roy — have already released an original single.
Here’s a bit about all of those releases. The links take you to the songs on Apple Music. Or you can check out the Spotify snippets below.
* Taryn Papa released the autobiographical “Dream Girl” over the weekend. “It tells my story as a small town girl with a passion who despite adversity never gave up and believed in her dreams!” she writes on social media. Oh, and Tamryn wrote the song with Gwen Sebastian and Leland Grant, two singers Voice fans with long memories will remember. Both appeared on Season 2; Leland as part of a duo called The Line. Taryn also performed at Blake Shelton’s Ol’ Red in Nashville on New Year’s Eve.
* Kelsie Watts warns guys that she tends to be self-destructive when it comes to relationships in her song, “Destructive.” Kelsie wrote the pop single with Sammy Plotkin and Stephen Rivera. And it certainly gives her a chance to show off her powerful vocals. Kelsie has also released a full-length version of her blind audition song, a cover of Kelly Clarkson’s “I Dare You” to streaming sites.
* Lain Roy released “Not Christmas to Me” last week. It’s probably best to listen to this one post-Christmas, because the theme is a bit of a downer. “This song is super personal, talking about how Christmas loses its shine and magic the older you get,” writes Lain. He penned the song with Emily Dini and Coby Stayton. And apparently, there’s more Lain music coming. In another post, he adds: “Been writing some of the best songs I’ve ever written. Can’t wait to share them with y’all early 2021.”
* James Pyle was one of the last singers to earn a spot on Season 19, but beat most of his colleagues to the punch with post-show music, releasing “Damned Good Love” back on Dec. 10. James wrote, mixed and mastered the song and there’s a music video too, shot by his good friend Ijaaz Noohu. James released his debut EP, “Attachments,” earlier this year.
