Peyton Parker admits she was surprised by Blake Shelton’s battle round song choice for her and Gina Castanzo.

They were asked to perform “Borderline” by Madonna, though it was a pop song that didn’t really fit either of their musical genres.

But Peyton also lucked out in a way, she said during a conference call with the media this week.

“I was actually really familiar with the song,” she said. “I do like a slow country version of it at some of my shows. But the way that we did it on the show was totally different from that.

“But it ended up sounding great,” Peyton added. “It was super high energy and the crowd was really into it and it was super fun.”

Peyton advanced in a battle we saw just a snippet of during Tuesday’s show. That means she’ll represent Team Blake in the knockout rounds that begin Monday.

Peyton, of Kennesaw, Ga., was 20 when she auditioned with Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams” and turned three chairs in the blind audition. Head here for more on Peyton.

Gina, of West Chester, Pa., was 18 when she auditioned with “Cecilia and the Satellite” and earned a spot on Team Blake. Head here for more on Gina.
