Season 5, The Voice

Preston Pohl cracks iTunes with Voice performance

So, I checked iTunes at noon to see how the artists from audition episode number three of The Voice were doing.

There wasn’t much to check.

Only one has cracked the iTunes top 200 for downloads of his Voice single.

Preston Pohl was sitting at a very impressive number 24 with his version of “Electric Feel.”

That put him just behind Justin Timberlake’s “Take Back the Night” and a couple of spots ahead of Britney Spears’ “Work B–ch.” Pretty heady company.

Preston is the 26-year-old from the one-stop light town of Halletsville, Texas, who joined Team Adam following an audition that aired Monday.

He formerly played guitar for a Christian group called StorySide: B, which rolled off a string of five Christian radio hits back in 2005-2007.

But the band disbanded after one of its members collapsed while playing basketball and died.

According to his Facebook bio, Preston and founding member Lucio Rubino tried to re-invent StorySide: B in 2011, but have also been pursuing solo endeavors.

Which, for Preston, means a spot on The Voice.

Holly Henry of The VoiceThere is one other Voice contestant on the iTunes Top 200 list: Holly Henry.

Yep, a full week after her blind audition aired, the Minneapolis teen is still on the chart with Coldplay’s “The Scientist.”

Last week, that song was also sitting in the mid-20s on the chart.

Holly comes from the Danielle Bradbery school of Voice contestants — talented but with very little stage experience.

But she clearly made an impression in her few minutes of screen time, more so than any of her colleagues.

I’ll be posting bio blogs on the week two contestants later this week.
