American Idol opened auditions for Season 14 Wednesday afternoon in Minneapolis.
And while the show’s appeal might have diminished in recent years, 2,000 still turned out for the event, according to the Minnesota Star Tribune.
It marked Idol’s first visit to the city since 2006. Back then, the crowd at the audition was expected at 10,000.
Idol’s next stop on the audition tour is next Wednesday in New Orleans. The show will also be visiting Long Island, N.Y. (July 23), Nashville, Tenn. (July 30) and San Francisco (Sept. 29) in addition to a number of stops in smaller cities with the show’s small town bus tour.
