Despite an impressive performance, Sandy Redd did not win her battle round match with Cody Ray Raymond on The Voice.

And she didn’t seem the least bit disappointed about that during a conference call with the media earlier this week.

Sandy and Cody Ray performed Solomon Burke’s “Cry to Me” in a Team Kelly Clarkson battle that aired Monday night.

And they did such a good job with the song, that the coaches made clear during their comments that the singer Kelly didn’t select to advance would likely be stolen.

When Kelly awarded the win to Cody Ray, that’s exactly what happens. In triplicate. Every other coach tried to lure Sandy to his or her team.

“I was very extremely happy because what we set out to accomplish actually happened,” Sandy told Voice Views. “Me and Cody went into this thing wanting to make sure that we both sung, that we both came out good, that we both came out staying on the other side. That was our goal.

“However it happened, whether I won and he got stolen, or he won and I got stolen, that was our goal. So I was extremely happy that our goal was reached.”

Sandy, who had turned all four coaches’ chairs with her blind audition, opted to join Team Jennifer Hudson this time around.

“I went with Team Jennifer for the same reason I went with Team Kelly,” said the 36-year-old from Chicago. “I’m a feeling person, so I go by what my gut and what my feeling is telling me in that moment.

“And when JHud started to say things like she actually cared about what I wanted as an artist and she
wanted to hear from me, you know, what I wanted from a coach in order to help me get further in the competition, I mean that really resonated with me.”

We’ll next see Sandy and Cody Ray, who did not participate in the conference call, during The Voice Season 15 knockout round, which begins Monday, Oct. 29. The battle round concludes Monday and Tuesday on NBC.
