Scotty king of country chart, if not lip synching

0

Scotty McCreery might need to practice his lip-sync techniques after the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade flub, but he’s doing just fine on the music charts.

After being bumped to number two on the country album chart by Miranda Lambert’s “Four the Record,” Scotty is back in the top spot this week.

His “Clear As Day” debut album also moved up from 14 to 13 on the Billboard 200, pretty impressive considering the number of hot new holiday releases and the fact that his album has been on the charts for seven weeks now.

And he’s doing it without the benefit of a smash single.  “The Trouble with Girls,” the song he pretended to sing during Thursday’s parade, has yet to hit the top 40 on Billboard’s country singles chart.

Other chart highlights this week:

*  Kelly Clarkson’s fifth album, “Stronger,” drops from 19 to 22 on the Billboard 200.  Lead single “Mr. Know it All” is number 20 on the Hot 100 and number three among adult pop songs.  The only tunes ahead of it there — Maroon 5’s “Moves Like Jagger,” featuring Christina Aguilera; and Adele’s “Someone Like You.”

* “Crawling Back to You,” the lead single off Daughtry’s new album, has cracked the top 10 on the adult pop song chart at number 10.  It has dropped out of the Hot 100 after three weeks.

* Mandisa continues to do well on the Christian charts.  Her third album is number nine.  “Waiting for Tomorrow,” her second single off that album, has moved up to number 12 on the Christian singles chart.
