Song by song playoff grades for Team Kelly

At least two singers from Team Kelly Clarkson will advance on The Voice this week.

One will advance based on fan voting following Monday’s show. One will advance via Kelly’s save on Tuesday.

Here’s a look at her team’s performances from Monday night.

Cami Clune, “Never Tear Us Apart” by INXS — Wow, does this young lady ever bring intensity to the stage. Not only that, I thought she delivered the best vocal of the night on Team Kelly. Check out the glory note in the middle of the song, and the range on that ending. Thanks to a couple of Kelly missteps in the knockouts, Cami also has the female pop lane all to herself. Grade: A–

Desz, “What’s Love Got to Do With It” by Tina Turner — I was a little torn over this song choice for Desz. In my mind, it took too long — until right at the end, the 2:12 mark to be precise — for her to cut loose with those big booming diva vocals. That said, it did give Desz a chance to show off her stage presence. Grade: B

Madeline Consoer, “What If I Never Get Over You” by Lady Antebellum — Great stage presence for Madeline, and she clearly connected emotionally with the song. I just didn’t care for this song on her voice. I thought she sounded better in the knockout round. Grade: B–

Tanner Gomes, “Lovin’ on You” by Luke Combs — Tanner’s clearly decided he’s going to be the fun country singer on this year’s The Voice. Problem is, that song needed a whole lot more attitude, a whole lot more grit and a little more swagger too. Grade: C

Who should advance? Cami and Desz
