The Girl with the Growl wants us to Listen Up

0

She landed in the bottom three the first two weeks of the finals and four times overall.

Then came within a whisker of the American Idol finals.

Haley Reinhart put together one of the best story lines we’ve seen on American Idol in Season 10.

And Tuesday, she wants everyone to listen up again.

That’s when The Girl with the Growl releases her debut album, “Listen Up.”

Judging from the 90-second song snippets that have been released (you can listen up below), her debut is heavy on jazz influences, which will probably surprise no one.

And Entertainment Weekly has already given the album a B+, saying the “disc’s retro second half is a pure funky delight.”

Haley released “Free” as the lead single from the album, but based on a quick listen there are at least three or four songs that sound better, including “Hit the Ground Running,” “Wasted Tears” and “Undone.”

Haley has a host of events scheduled to promote the album, including TV appearances on Good Day L.A. on Monday and Good Day Chicago on Friday (the 21-year-old is from nearby Wheeling, Ill.).

She also has CD signing events scheduled throughout the week. Head here for all the details.

And check back later this week. I’ll compile reviews of Haley’s new CD as they become available.

And maybe even chime in with my own opinion once my pre-ordered copy arrives in the mail.

Now, here’s Haley … Click on the dots at the bottom of the image for the 90-second song clips.
