Let’s see …
Craig Wayne Boyd wound up at number one on the iTunes country chart with “You Look So Good in Love;”
Damien Lawson hit number one on the iTunes R&B / Soul chart with “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother;”
Anita Antoinette hit number one on the reggae chart with “Redemption Song;” and
Matt McAndrew hit number two on the alternative chart with “Take Me to Church.”
The only song above him on that chart? The Hozier’s version of the same song, spurred up the charts by Matt’s performance on The Voice.
Wow, that’s quite a night for the Top 12, seven of whom cracked the Top 50 on iTunes overall singles chart.
For a look at where everyone landed on iTunes, head here. For a look at my predictions for who’s safe and who isn’t this evening, head here.
Hint: I expect us to lose two of the four artists who were saved by their coaches a week ago.
Before we get to results, Gwen Stefani and her three remaining singers will treat us to a rendition of Blondie’s “The Tide is High.” Listen to that applause when it was Taylor John’s turn to solo.
And Carson Daly reveals a strange new twist on The Voice. There will be a wild card finalist this year.
Everyone eliminated between now and the final three will be brought back for a wild card performance. The top vote getter among those eight will join the top three in the finals.
OK, what do we all think about that?
Time for results. Safe on The Voice …
* Matt McAndrew: No surprise. He scored another iTunes hit.
* Anita Antoinette: No surprise there either. Her performance last night was sure to strike a chord with her fans.
* DaNica Shirey: The York County gal did it again. On to the Top 10.
* Craig Wayne Boyd: No way he was going home tonight.
* Damien Lawson: Well deserved. He delivered another superb vocal last night.
* Reagan James: She just tweeted that she might need fans help during the instant save period. She didn’t.
A musical interlude as Blake Shelton and his three team members sing “Sad Songs Say So Much.” This isn’t going to go down as one of my favorite group numbers of Season 7.
Also safe on The Voice …
* Taylor John Williams: This guy is becoming a growing threat to be a Season 7 sensation.
* Chris Jamison: The special treatment last night paid off for Chris.
* Luke Wade: No way that little vocal flub was going to keep him out of the Top 10.
That leaves Jessie, Sugar and Ryan to compete for the instant save.
Song by song grades for them coming up …
Jessie Pitts: She’ll sing “Gravity.” I have a feeling Jessie is suffering a bad case of the nerves. She typically sounds much better than that. She seemed to have trouble with her breath control. That performance alone wasn’t save worthy. But she’s been much, much better. Grade: C–
Sugar Joans: She’ll sing “I Want to Dance with Somebody.” Sugar is doing much better than Jessie, having fun on the stage, showing off those big vocals, mixing in that growl of hers from time to time. And she adds a nice flourish at the end. Now that was save worthy. Grade: B
Ryan Sill: He sings “More Than Words.” Ryan has a nice voice, but his vocals faltered a couple of times during that rather sleepy performance. Folks, for a save-me performance, I’d pick something fun and upbeat as though I was going down swinging. Grade: B–
So guess who I’d save? Sugar, who I’m still sure will go home.
And the singer saved is: Ryan Sill.

Needed a wildcard save YEARS AGO. Like for Holly Henry and for Alaska & Madi.
I see no reason to have a wildcard join the top three! There’s no way the public will change their minds at that point and vote a performer as the winner who couldn’t make it to the top three on the merits of their own live performance. Complete waste of air time.
