Tonight we find out who advanced from a night of strong performances on The Voice.

The Top 12 took the stage after a seven-month break in filming for Season 25 and, for the most part, didn’t appear to miss a step.

Bryan Olesen was still rocking. Nathan Chester was still doing splits on stage. Maddi Jane was still showing off her performance chops. And Asher HaVon and L. Rodgers were still wowing us with their vocals.

But The Voice is also continuing a voting method first adopted last spring — one that limits fans to one vote per email address.

That’s opposed to a previous method that allowed fans to cast multiple votes for as many singers as they wanted to.

And it makes the results a bit less predictable.

For instance …

Are there enough country votes out there for all three country singers — Josh Sanders, Karen Waldrup and Tae Lewis — to advance?

And what fate awaits three younger singers — Madison Curbelo, Zoe Levert and Serenity Arce — on a show where so many of the Season 25 contestants are more seasoned performers?

We’ll start finding out at 8 p.m.

Nine singers will advance. Eight of spots will be based on the overnight voting.

That will leave four singers in jeopardy. They’ll sing for an instant save at the end of tonight’s show.

Singers voted to safety include:

Asher HaVon (Team Reba)
Maddi Jane (Team Chance)
Nathan Chester (Team Legend)
Madison Curbelo (Team Dan + Shay)
Josh Sanders (Team Reba)
Bryan Olesen (Team Legend)
Serenity Arce (Team Chance)
Karen Waldrup (Team Dan+Shay)

That means the singers performing for a save will be L. Rodgers, Zoe Levert, Nadege and Tae Lewis.

And the save goes to Tae Lewis, meaning the elimination of L. Rodgers, Zoe and Nadege.

Remember the Instant Save is unfair to the finalists from the West Coast.

The Instant Save really has no effect on the finale outcome as anyone who has to rely on an Instant Save to advance has realistically zero chance of winning. Yeah, the West Coast viewers don’t get their say but it is strictly a tactic used by producers to add some sort of drama to their RV show. And that is exactly what The Voice is — a TV show. It is not simply a singing contest.
