Season 3, The Live Finals, The Voice

The Voice’s Top 4: Cassadee, Terry, Trevin and Nicholas

Tonight was the most suspenseful results show on The Voice yet.

So much talent. But only four spots in next week’s quarterfinals.

And those spots wound up going to Cassadee Pope, Trevin Hunte, Terry McDermott and Nicholas David.

You figured Cassadee had to be in the final four. Both of her songs from Monday night wound up in the top 10 on iTunes. As of 9 p.m., they were still there.

And you have to figure she’s the favorite to win heading into the last two weeks.

Ah, but anything can happen, can’t it?

For instance, Cassadee had the most popular song on iTunes the past two weeks. This week, she was topped by Team Blake colleague Terry McDermott.

And let’s not forget Season 2 of The Voice. Pop-rocker Juliet Simms looked like the best of the final four. The Voice title wound up in the hands of Jermaine Paul.

Once again, it’s a three-guy, one-gal final four, and we should be in for a heck of a show next Monday night.

You have to like the diversity The Voice is serving up,  too.  Cassadee’s a pop artist who mixes her pop with an awful lot of passion for whatever she sings.

Terry’s the classic rocker; Trevin’s the balladeer of the bunch and has the best voice, but not the most versatility.

Nicholas is going to provide some classic soul and is probably the most adventurous of the final four.

All that said, I hated to see Melanie Martinez and Amanda Brown leave the show Monday night. I was hoping for a three-gal, one-guy finale.

Melanie was the most unique of the final six, and not just because of her look. Long-term you have to think she has a bright future in the music business, especially after the following she developed on The Voice.

Amanda was my favorite singer of the final six, partly because she was capable of singing anything and singing it well. She might have been a victim of her own success. “Dream On” was so good and came so early in the competition … well, it was just tough to top.

Anyway, we have a final four and two more weeks of great music on The Voice to look forward too.

Check back Sunday. I’ll be posting rankings for the final four.

And between now and then I’ll put together a couple of photo galleries from this week’s shows.
