Sam Stacy, a contestant on The Voice Season 19.

His audition: Sam Stacy, 27, of Lincoln, Neb., auditioned with “Fire and Rain” by James Taylor. No one turned for most of the song. Then, near the end, Kelly, Blake and Gwen turned in rapid succession. Blake liked the believability in his approach. Sam opted to join Team Blake.

Here’s more about Sam:

* He’s now L.A. based and has been fronting a show called “Gravity: The John Mayer Experience.” Of course, most of its 2020 show schedule, save for a few early dates in Wisconsin and Illinois, were wiped out by the pandemic.

* He’s in his mid-20s and describes his original music as “complex guitar parts layered with rich baritone vocals” and influenced by blues, folk, R&B and soul.

* Other than Mayer, Sam says his major musical influences include Jack Johnson, Bill Withers, James Taylor and Jason Mraz.

* When he was younger, he was involved in musical theater, appearing in dozens of local shows.

* His grandparents bought him an acoustic guitar when he was 12, according to one bio, and he quickly caught the music bug.

* Sam released a four-song EP in 2016 called “Roots and Wings,” which is still available on his Soundcloud page. It doesn’t appear to be on streaming sites now, if it ever was.

* He does have three singles available, “Ghost” and “Been a While” from 2019 and “Take Me Back,” a collaboration with Hannah Leigh, from earlier this year.

* “Ghost” was accompanied by a music video and a release show at the Hotel Cafe in L.A. “Been a While,” he writes on social media, “is about the cyclical ending of badly defined relationships.” There’s also a music video for “Take Me Back” and lots of romantic photos of Sam and Hannah together on their Instagram pages.
