Durell Anthony from The Voice Season 20

Here’s more on Durell.

* He’s from Atchison, Kansas, but was lured to the San Diego area by a summer job in 2010, took up residence and has been working as a full-time musician since 2016.

* Durell has released a pair of singles, “Dreams” in 2017 and “Speechless” in June and hopes to release his debut album sometime this year, according to his web bio.

* He wrote both singles, including “Speechless” with Jordan Childs. He says that song was written for his daughter and is dedicated to “girl dads everywhere.” You can check it out below.

* He also sings lead with a San Diego-based Top 40 corporate band called The Mighty Untouchables.

* Durell also performs as a background vocalist. There’s a photo on Instagram of him backing Carrie Underwood on NBC’s Elvis Tribute in 2019. He’s also performance with Yolanda Adams.

* According to an interview with the San Diego Voyager, Durell started in music early, playing the piano and drums in church, trumpet in his school band and singing with his school’s choir.

* He attended Benedictine College in Kansas, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in sociology in 2008.

* As for his career to date, here’s what he told that site: “I’ve had some awesome victories as well as tough learning experiences. I’ve gotten some amazing phone calls for gigs, and I’ve been overlooked for quite a few as well. That’s just how it goes. And instead of seeing these as merely strokes of good (or bad) luck, I’d like to think that everything that happens to me is apart of a larger plan. I’m a firm believer that God directs my path, and while I may not understand everything that happens, I believe it’s my job to take the good with the bad and to be prepared for opportunities when they come along.”
