His audition: Tom Nitti, 31, of New Hartford, N.Y., performed “Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Your” by Stevie Wonder. The Voice cut his audition short, but Tom was having lots of fun on stage and earned a last-second chair turn from Reba McEntire. John Legend said he liked the country twist Tom put on the song. Since Reba was the only coach to turn, Tom automatically joined her team.

* He’ a country artists from central New York.

* He’s also a U.S. Army veteran who was deployed to Afghanistan as an Airborne Cavalry Scout.

* In fact, according to his website bio, he earned the purple heart for sustaining a traumatic brain injury while taking mortar fire during combat.

* Upon returning home, Tom took a job with the New York State Police, according to the More Than Music podcast.

* He also began pursuing his dreams of being a musician, forming his first band, The Tom Nitti Project in late 2019.

* Tom’s now one of several Season 24 contestants who has already released music. In his case, that includes four singles beginning with “Babe” in 2020. That’s his most popular release to date.

* His other singles include “Couple Cans Deep,” “Country to Me” and “Take You Away.” Tom was also working on a “Country to Me” album, but it hasn’t landed yet.

* “Couple Cans Deep,” featuring Tom’s raspy country vocals, is especially impressive, and you can check out the music video below.

* He also has an impressive, unreleased original on Instagram, a song he says he “wrote in honor of our military and the sacrifices they make each and every day. ”

* On his website, Tom says his live shows feature a mix of originals and modern country covers and are known for their high energy.

* Among the artists Tom has opened for are Craig Campbell, Hunter Hayes and Chris Janson.

* And the covers he’s posted to social media this year include Corey Kent’s “Wild as Her” and Kameron Marlowe’s “Giving You Up.” Both of those artists also appeared on The Voice.
