Quiz time: What do the top three singers in the new Voice rankings have in common?

They were all put on the brink of elimination by their original coach during the battle or knockout round and rescued by their current coach.

Yep, there’s a new leader in this week’s rankings based on what happened during the Top 11 performance show.

And the contestants will likely face a double elimination next Tuesday night as The Voice sets the stage for the Season 13 semifinals.

The rankings below are a combination of where I think the singers should and will finish. Each singer’s ranking from last week appears in parenthesis.

1. Chloe Kohanski (4) (Team Blake): She delivered pure magic Monday night. She became the first Season 13 contestant to reach number one on iTunes. She was still there 24 hours after voting ended. The video of that performance has been watched nearly twice as often as any other performance from Top 11 night. With the right songs, she could win. No more overdone “Time After Time” nonsense, please.

2. Addison Agen (2) (Team Adam): I was a fan of Addison before Season 13 started because she was a rumored contestant and I’d listened to her superb pre-show album, “New Places.” I’m thrilled to see the show’s fans embrace her as well, especially since she isn’t the type of singer who’s going to wow you with vocal gymnastics. Still, two straight weeks on the iTunes Top 10.

3. Noah Mac (3) (Team Jennifer): Of the Top 3 here, I think Noah’s the most likely winner because (1) a female singer-songwriter has never won The Voice and (2) he has the cute young guy appeal. That said, Noah doesn’t need to rely on the cute young guy appeal to deserve a spot in the Season 13 finals. He just needs to keep doing what he’s been doing on stage.

4. Red Marlow (5) (Team Blake): Red’s fans sure kicked it into high gear last week, sending him vaulting into the Top 10 on iTunes and all the way to number one on the country chart. And that’s despite the fact that The Voice has had him performing in the death spot (second) each of the last two weeks. Just as I suspected, he’s going to be Season 13’s most popular country singer.

5. Davon Fleming (1) (Team Jennifer): Which R&B diva song is Davon going to tackle next? “I’m Telling You I’m Not Going” perhaps? Look, if Davon is auditioning to be Jennifer’s next background singer, these song choices are fine. If the goal is to show us what kind of artist he’s going to be after the show — well, not so much.

6. Brooke Simpson (6) (Team Miley): You hate to say one Voice contestant is going to benefit from another’s elimination, but that might be the case for Brooke now that Janice is no longer around. It leaves Brooke as the show’s top female powerhouse vocalist. Better news: I don’t think we’ve heard her best, yet she’s sailed through two weeks on fan voting.

7. Keisha Renee (8) (Team Blake): Blake’s all about having his country singers deliver a story. He needs Keisha to dial back the those vocal fireworks and deliver a bit more emotion. Don’t be surprised if he sends Keisha to the stage with a Christian heart-tugger sometime soon. “Amazing Grace” anyone?

8. Ashland Craft (9) (Team Miley): More spunk. More fire. Please. More of the Ashland we saw belting out “Wanted Dead of Alive” in the knockouts, when she convinced Miley to keep her and cut loose Chloe, who was promptly stolen by Blake. The last couple weeks have felt like Ashland trying to put more life into songs than they were designed to deliver.

9. Adam Cunningham (10) (Team Adam): Aaron Gibson snagged three straight instant saves in Season 11. I have a feeling Adam Cunningham is going to have to match that to advance beyond next week. He was quite solid Monday and still couldn’t escape the bottom two.

10. Shi’Ann Jones (11) (Team Jennifer): Each of the last two weeks, Shi’Ann has been asked to tackle power ballads by renown female vocalists. She’s survived. Now how about giving Shi’Ann a young, fun song to sing to match her look and personality?
