Tonight’s a Voice results show, which means there’s at least one guest performance spot.

Filling that role … drum roll, please … Janelle Monae.

Who, the last time I checked, has absolutely nothing to do with The Voice.

And has absolutely no business on The Voice stage when so many past contestants have new music that need exposure.

I thought The Voice had turned a corner on this issue a year ago when they launched an After The Voice video series featuring past contestants.

I thought maybe they were turning a corner earlier this season when Cassadee Pope, Jordan Smith, Chloe Kohanski and Chris Blue were invited back as guest mentors for the knockout round.

Well, the video series dwindled in Season 13 and has now apparently disappeared. We haven’t seen a past contestant since the knockouts.

And we’re two result shows into the finals and a former Voice contestant has yet to be invited back to perform new music.
