That means viewers will likely see former The Voice standout Ali Caldwell face her first challenge since landing a seat on the show.
Now, there’s no guarantee Ali will be challenged. Singers who audition for the show get to choose which member of The Four they’d like to go up against.
But with rapper Sharaya J. and former U.K. boy band member James Graham still sitting in seats they’ve held since Season 2 started and rocker Jesse Kramer fending off weekly foes …
Well, let’s just say Ali would make an obvious choice for a challenge, regardless of how impressive her cover of “Set Fire to the Rain” was two weeks ago.
And it was impressive. For a reminder, check out the clip below.
In an interview with Talent Recap, Ali said she’s ready for whatever the show throws her way. Heck, her answer about her strategy would likely make Diddy gleefully chant “eat, eat, eat.”
“My strategy is to remain hungry and continue to be determined and not take no for an answer,” said Ali, who hails from New York by way of Jersey.
“Anytime it’s time to hit the stage, it not a game for me. it’s tunnel vision. I always think to kill it every time I hit the stage.”
Ali was 28 when she auditioned for Season 11 of The Voice. She turned four chairs with her blind audition and proved that wasn’t a fluke by making it all the way to the semifinals.
Since The Voice, she’s released a single called “To Be Loved” and a music video for the song that was shot entirely in Europe. She was working on an album called “88” when The Four opportunity came up.
In the Talent Recap interview, she calls The Voice “an amazing opportunity, an amazing platform.”
“I just feel like that wasn’t the end for me,” she said of her decision to try The Four. “There’s so much more to life. There’s so much more to growing. And there’s so many more doors to be open. So I thought, ‘Why not take that step to another huge platform?'”
The Four returns for Season 2 Week 5 on Thursday at 8 p.m.
