In that statement, he avoided mention of Adam Levine. Or the strange ending to Tuesday’s show when Adam encouraged fans to save Reagan Strange rather than DeAndre.

And made that plea on part of Reagan even though she was too “under the weather” to perform a save-me song Tuesday night.

But asked directly about the incident by his hometown TV station, 12 News Now of Beaumont and Port Arthur, Texas, DeAndre didn’t mince words.

“It was just weird,” he said of Adam’s end-of-show comments. “Not being rude, I just felt like he sold me out, you know? And I just don’t respect it. Just being honest.

“We did our job, sick or not,” he added, referring to himself and Dave Fenley, who also performed for the save and was eliminated. “I just got over laryngitis. And when I came back, I still sang.

“It’s wasn’t none of that anxiety or none of that stuff. I know she’s a little kid, but it’s like, man … you could have put some words in for me at all … something.”

Adam Levine has taken the brunt of the criticism for what transpired, partly because DeAndre wound up missing out on the instant save by the smallest of margins.

But fans have also been critical of The Voice for allowing Reagan to be eligible for an instant save even though she was too “under the weather” to perform.

Well, DeAndre’s likely to get a warm welcome back in his hometown today. He’ll be part of the Port Arthur Holiday Parade on Saturday.

In fact, he’s to serve as the parade’s grand marshal and receive the keys to the city from Port Arthur Mayor Derrick Freeman.
