Uche Ndubizu auditioned for American Idol Season 17.

Several contestants who auditioned for Season 17 of American Idol has already released music.

And you can add R&B, pop performer Uche Ndubizu to that list.

Uche (pronounced oo-chay) announced last month that he auditioned for Season 17. American Idol returns to ABC on Sunday, March 3 with the season’s first audition episode.

Here’s more about Uche.

* His full name is Uchechukwu Ndubizu-Egwim, shortened to Uche Ndubizu for the show, though the music he’s released to date has been as simply Uche.

* His website describes Uche as a Nigerian-American singer, songwriter, dancer, actor and model.

* He’s opened for Demi Lovato and Grammy nominated rapper B.o.B.

* Uche released a six-song EP called “My Generation” in 2017. He was a 22-year-old student at Texas State University at the time.

* The lead single from the EP was “Mob Luxuries,” a warning song about partying too hard, written after a friend overdosed. But the ballad “Made of Steel” is more indicative of what Uche can do vocally. You can check it out below.

* Uche calls his blend of funk and electronic dance music “Funk DM.”

* He stands 6-foot-5, and describes his performance style this way: ““No apologies, I go hard every freaking time. You haven’t seen a tall lanky dude ‘get it’ like a short guy can … until now.”

* As for Idol, he wrote this on Instagram: “This year (2018) was a trip. It has had some highs but it’s had a lot of really low lows. On a whim, i sent a video to a lady looking for good singers and next thing ya know I’m on a flight to audition for @katyperry , @lukebryan , and @lionelrichie.”

Uche ! I applaud you time and time again. You are truly the only performer I can seriously imagine paying waiting and seeing on stage. My anticipation of your upcoming success is an unwritten fact. Smile man you got this. Whether the demographics from idol know or not is irrelevant at this point. There are too many people who have seen what you excell at and will be waiting on tickets too.
