Her audition: Khalea Lynee, 36, of Clearwater, Fla., performed “Best Part” by Daniel Caesar. Khalea’s impressive tone and range prompted quick chair turns Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson. John Legend soon followed. Khalea’s pitch-perfect performance eventually enticed a chair turn from Gwen Stefani as well. John complimented her on a beautiful tone and smart choices during the performance. Kelly complimented her on a “killer voice.” Khalea opted to join Team Legend.

Here’s more about Kahlea.

* She is an R&B / soul artist from St. Petersburg, Fla.

* Khalea grew up singing in church where her mother was pastor. Though she was nervous and shy at first, Khalea writes on Facebook that her mother would constantly push her to perform in front of large crowds.

* By age 12, Khalea says she had written her first song and decided that she wanted to pursue a career in singing.

* In high school, she participated in a number of choral groups, according to her Facebook bio. She also eventually became director of the children’s choir at her mother’s church.

* Khalea also joined her older brother’s band, “Julian’s Experience,” and toured with that group.

* Around 2011 Khalea started working with music producer Diggz of Diggztown. She released a single called “I Know” as Khalea and is a featured vocalist on another song from a Diggztown Vol. 1: Nightlife EP that’s posted to ReverbNation.

* Under her full name, Khalea released an impressive holiday single called “Not Another Christmas” in December. It’s available on iTunes and you can check it out below.

* Khalea lists Brandy, Monica, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey and Yolanda Adams as her biggest musical influences.

The band performs at a variety of events, from weddings to festivals. Last year, she said, they provided entertainment for the U.S. Army in celebration of the Army’s 243rd birthday.

* Adds Khalea: “The band is still active & they are very supportive of my journey with The Voice. I love those guys to pieces!”
