American Idol kicks off Season 18 with a premiere episode on Sunday, Feb. 16.

Among the artists announcing they auditioned for Season 18 is Jimmy Levy.

Here’s more about Jimmy.

* Performing as Two Less Lonely, he and duet partner Nikki Rechtszaid were selected for the Best Cover Ever web series on YouTube and covered “In the Name of Love” by Bebe Rexha.

* Bebe praised their vocals and their performance, but awarded the win in that episode to a band called Double Faced Eels.

* During the interview portion of the episode, Jimmy talked about the importance of music in his life:
“I was always a big kid,” he said. “I used to get bullied in school. But the ability to reach so many people and touch people with music helped me a lot.”

* And he’s done that. The 22-year-old became popular on the musical.ly app. Two Less Lonely has nearly 7,000 subscribers on its YouTube channel. Jimmy has more than 1 million views on his.

* He’s since released two singles on his own, “Queen of Hearts” and “Shadow.” The former has nearly 100,000 streams on Spotify. The latter: More than 3 million!

* Jimmy’s also been collaborating with other artists, perhaps most noteably XXXTentacion, who was shot and killed outside a motorsports store in 2018. The rapper’s posthumous album “Bad Vibes Forever” features “Wanna Grow Old,” with a featured vocal from Jimmy.

* Jimmy recently posted a photo of himself with a Billboard plaque he received because of that project’s success. And he wrote this: “Glad we created an anti-suicide movement together with ‘wanna grow old.’ You are the greatest! I will keep shining in your name…”

* On Instagram, Jimmy confesses that he’s struggled with depression himself and tried to take his own life that night “Shadows” was released, but couldn’t go through with the attempt because his mother came home early and would have witnessed what he planned.

* That incident became a song called “Red Horns” that he plans to release soon and that will feature Rick Ross. It’ll also be part of Jimmy’s upcoming album, “Aching World.”
