It landed her a spot on Team Nick Jonas and was a sign of things to come.
Arei made it all the way to the Top 17, lighting up The Voice stage every time she stepped foot on it, before being eliminated in Tuesday’s at-home results show.
Now Arei says she’ll be pouring that on-stage energy into new music she hopes to deliver by year’s end.
Here’s what Arei, who just turned 29, told Voice Views about her time on the show and her plans for her music.
Voice Views: What do you consider your biggest takeaway / lesson learned from The Voice experience?
Arei: My biggest take away is learning confidence and consistency.
Voice Views: Which was your favorite Voice performance and why?
Arei: My favorite voice performance was “You Don’t Know My Name” (from the knockout round) because I got to pick that song, and it showcased my style. Also, I love Alicia Keys.
Voice Views: What the experience like, doing a performance from your home for the show and for national TV?
Arei: It was pretty weird performing from home because I usually pull energy from an audience, but it was really cool getting a glimpse into the behind the scenes of production and preparation. Honestly, it felt just as busy and hectic as its been when we were out in LA.
Voice Views: I realize much is in limbo now because of the pandemic, but what are your post-Voice plans musically?
Arei: I have been working on new music that should be out soon! I have a lot of plans coming. The show was just a stepping stone to catapult me forward, and it was an amazing experience.
Voice Views: Do you have plans to release new music? If so, what can you tell us about that? Sound? Timing? Etc?
Arei: I do have new music coming soon, this year. I’ll say I’m going to be bringing y’all some island vibes and some sass.
Voice Views: Is there anything else you’d like to add about The Voice experience?
Arei: I’d just like to thank them for the opportunity.
