Moon was one of the battle round victors on The Voice episode that aired Monday night.

That means the 28-year-old songstress from Boston, Mass., will advance to the knockout round, which begins next week.

Arei and Samuel WILCO performed “Missing You” by John Waite during their battle. Though Arei was unfamiliar with the song, their duet drew rave reviews from the coaches.

Nick proclaimed Arei the winner, praising the charisma and energy she brings to her performances.

Here’s what Arei told Voice Views about the battle round experience.

Voice Views: What do you think was the key to your success in the battle round?

Arei: I think the key was to not think of it as a battle and instead, think of it as more of a team presentation where each of us had to do our part to make it great. I also decided to let go of all my nerves and to solely just have fun.

Voice Views: How did the song choice work for you? Did it pose any special challenges?

Arei: Initially when we got the song choice, I was a little concerned because I had never heard it before and thought it would be way out of my element. However, once we began to practice it and get our parts down, it became easy to make it my own.

Voice Views: Did you have much experience singing duets or performing with others prior to the battle round? And, if so, do you think that worked to your advantage in preparing for the battle and how so?

Arei: Prior to The Voice, I worked full time as the female lead alongside a previous Voice contestant. We did many duets together and I feel like that taught me to work off my partners energy.

Voice Views: Anything else you’d like to add about the battle round experience?

Arei: I had a blast preparing the battle round.

Voice Views: And, obviously, you can’t talk about song choice, but is there a side of your artistry you haven’t gotten to display yet that you hope to in coming rounds?

Arei: I think the next round will showcase some of my earliest influences in regards to style of music.
