After The Voice

A new song from Season 1 Voice standout Lily Elise

Lily Elise, a Season 1 standout on The Voice, has released the title track from her upcoming EP, “Taken.”

It’s the third song she’s released to iTunes from the EP, which she described back in November as ” a story of a past relationship, from beginning to end.”

The previously released songs were “Suitcases” and “Generator.” You can check out the videos to both below and the new tune, which might be the best yet, is embedded to your right.

Lily told Billboard she wrote “Taken” with with Jenn Deciliveo and that it’s the breakup song of the EP.

She described “Taken” this way:

“What I’ve always wanted, with a deep sense of certainty, is to share my music and my voice with the world. Because of that I’ve always been extremely focused on music, which doesn’t leave much room for love. It wedged a divide in the relationship, and we grew further apart as he realized he would never mean more to me than my music. Hopefully I find someone someday that does, but he wasn’t that person.”

Oh, and the artwork for the single and the EP was done by Lily’s sister.

Lily competed on Team Christina on Season 1 of The Voice and made the Top 16.

You can keep up with Lily on her website or Facebook page.
