Aaron Kelly is releasing a holiday single on Saturday. (FOX Photo)Update: Aaron Kelly’s first single is available for download, but you won’t find it on iTunes yet. To download a copy, go here instead.

And if you want to hear it first, just go to the bottom of this blog. Aaron’s street team has been kind enough to place it on YouTube. Thanks, guys.

Original blog: Aaron Kelly, the teen from Sonestown, Pa., and the fifth-place finisher on Idol season nine, is about to release his first single.

It’s  a holiday song called “I Can’t Wait for Christmas” and will be available for downtown starting Saturday, according to an announcement on Aaron’s MySpace page.

“I’m so excited,” Aaron writes. “We have decided to release it independently for my fans … who are waiting for an album.”

Aaron co-wrote the song with Debby Throckmorton and James House.  The latter’s songwriting credits include “A Broken Wing” by Martina McBride and “Ain’t That Lonely Yet” by Dwight Yoakam.

Since Idol, Aaron has settled into an apartment in Nashville and has been writing material for that upcoming album, according to his MySpace.

It’s good to hear he’s already releasing music.

No doubt he was hard at work trying to make a name for himself in country music long before Idol.

And he gets my vote as the season nine singer most likely to enjoy post-Idol success other than finalists Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze.
