Abi Carter’s stunning cover of Adele’s “Hello” is turning out to be the most popular performance from Sunday’s episode of American Idol.

That’s according to YouTube views of the remaining contestants’ performance videos from Sunday’s show.

Abi’s version of “Hello” had racked up more than 376,000 views as of Thursday afternoon.

That’s more than twice the number of views for any other performance from Sunday’s show, which had the Idol Top 7 performing dance songs in round one and Adele covers in round two.

Wrote Abi on social media: “I would like to take the time to thank Adele for making so many absolute boppers.

“This night was magical. Having the opportunity to sing a song by an artist that I SO HEAVILY look up to and admire was not only an honor, but so humbling and exciting.”

The second and third most viewed performances from Sunday’s show were Emmy Russell’s — “Water Under the Bridge During” the Adele round and “Shut Up and Dance” from the dance round.

I’m not certain YouTube views are a strong indicator of fan support.

If they are, based on the numbers below, Triston Harper and Will Moseley should be heading home Sunday night. And I’ll be shocked if that happens.

But Emmy’s YouTube numbers would indicate a solid fan base.

Back to the Top 24 round, she’s never finished lower than third among contestants in YouTube views.

On three nights, she’s scored the most popular performance based on YouTube views.

That happened most recently when she covered “Coal Miner’s Daughter,” a performance that is approaching 1 million views on the site.

Here are the numbers for Sunday’s performances as of 2 p.m. Thursday.
