Anaya Cheyenne is knockout round bound after winning the battle round match that aired Monday on The Voice.

Anaya and Chelle of Team Kelly Clarkson performed “Scared to be Lonely.”

And Anaya, 16 when she auditioned, got great feedback from the judges. That included from John Legend, who said her performance prompted him to think, “Okay, she’s a star.”

Anaya, who has released music with the girl group Pink Heart, hails from the same performance school as Hello Sunday, the duo that did so well on Season 17 of The Voice.

Here’s what Anaya told Voice Views about her battle round experience.

Voice Views: What do you think was the key to your success in the battle round?

Anaya: I think the key was attitude, and confidence.

Voice Views: How did the song choice work for you? Did it pose any special challenges?

Anaya: The song was in my range, but I was challenged to step out of my comfort zone and hit really high notes.

Voice Views: Thanks to your experience with Pink Heart, you’re used to performing with others. Do you think that experience helped in preparing for the battle round and, if so, how?

Anaya: Definitely! I’m so used to working with others, especially my group mates. So it wasn’t a challenge at all to get to know my partner well and have good chemistry.

Voice Views: Is there anything else you’d like to add about the battle round experience?

Anaya: It was extremely fun! And I was IN LOVE with my outfit. Haha 🙂

Voice Views: And, obviously, you can’t talk about song choice, but is there a side of your artistry you haven’t gotten to display yet that you hope to in coming rounds?

Anaya: I haven’t done a fast pop song that includes lots of movement and dancing, so maybe I’ll get to show some skills later on.
