And her performance of her new single, “I am Invincible,” paid immediate dividends.
An hour after the show ended, the song had surged to number 19 on the iTunes country chart.
By 4 p.m. Wednesday, it had reached number 12. And four of the songs keeping it from climbing higher were the country songs performed on The Voice this week by Season 9 contestants.
Of course, we’re still awaiting a sophomore album from Cassadee.
A pop-rock performer before the show, she went the country route post-Voice and it paid off.
Her debut solo album, “Frame by Frame,” still ranks number one in first-week sales for any released by a former singer from the show. It debuted at number nine on the Billboard 200 and number one on the Billboard country albums chart.
Cassadee is also featured on a new single by Chris Young called “Think of You.”
And they’ll be touring together early next year, with stops planned in Philadelphia (Jan. 22), Pittsburgh (Jan. 23) and Baltimore (Feb. 26). Check out Cassadee’s website for tour details.
Meanwhile, the big question for The Voice is why they don’t invite more former contestants back to perform. There’s no shortage of great music being released, both by past-winners and non-winners.
