Recent post-Voice music includes singles from Britton Buchanan and Angel Taylor and a remix of a new song released by the late Christina Grimmie’s family last fall.

Here’s a bit about each of those releases.

The links take you to the songs on Apple Music. And, as usual, I’ve embedded Spotify snippets below.

* Britton Buchanan, runner-up from Season 14, released the single “I Hate the Way I Love You.” Britton, who turned 21 earlier this month, told fans he’s working on an album, and the single mark the beginning of a new chapter with his music. “It’s almost like we put out some B sides and now people are getting to hear the A sides,” producer Derek Fuhrmann said during an Instagram live session on the night the song was released. The opening line is something Britton said to a friend at a concert; the rest of the song flowed from that, Britton said.

* Angel Taylor from Season 2 released “Hard to Hold” on Thursday. She wrote the song with Bryan Fryzel and Stef Lang. “I remember when the first lines of this song came to me. I was at my part-time job, with no instruments around but started humming the melody and first couple lines like word vomit. I knew I had to write it down because moments like that are a dime a dozen and feel real special. I’ve always been one to write as honest as possible, even if it hurts, and this song is no exception.”

* The family of Christina Grimmie from Season 4 has released another track featuring the late singer, slain by a gunman following a 2016 concert at age 22. This one is a remix of “Cry Wolf.” The original version was released last fall. It’s a song Christina had performed live just once, but one fans had been requesting for eight years, according to her family. Proceeds benefit the Christina Grimmie Foundation, which supports families affected by gun violence and breast cancer.
