New post-Voice music out this week includes country singles from Danielle Bradbery, Grace Askew and James Dupré.

Here’s a bit about each of those releases.

The links take you to the songs on Apple Music. And I’ve posted Spotify snippets below.

* Danielle Bradbery, the Season 4 champ, released her second single of 2020 on Friday. It’s called “Girls in My Hometown” and was written by the team of Nicolle Gaylon (from Season 2), Josh Osbourne and Emily Weisband. Danielle calls it a song that touches on her Texas roots. “When I heard this song, my first thought was ‘woah, I felt that,'” she writes on social media. “I showed close friends of mine to get their opinion, and they got a bit emotional. We might look past it sometimes after we go along with our lives, but taking a moment to look back at where we’re from … it’s a pretty special thing.”

* Grace Askew from Season 4 released “Cactus Lady,” the title track from her upcoming EP (February 2021), on Friday. Grace told Cowboys and Indians the song was born as she traveled to Roswell, New Mexico for a gig. “I passed an abandoned adobe building with the words Cactus Lady faded on the side, and I told myself, ‘That’s a damn song!’ — which became a bit of fiction about a desert highway strip club with a dancer called “Cactus Lady.” Dan Baker directed the accompanying music video.

* James Dupré from Season 9 also released his second single of 2020 on Friday. Called “Home and Away,” it tells the story “of a love gone wrong right before the start of football season,” he writes on social media. James adds that he wrote the song last year with buddy Greg Bates. James’ previous 2020 single was “You’re Probably Drunk Right Now,” released in March.
