Chris Daughtry got the best news among former Idol contestants from Billboard’s first real music chart of 2014.

I call last week’s chart the first “real” one because it wasn’t influenced by holiday music.

As for Daughtry, the first single off the band’s new album jumped 21 spots on the Hot 100.

That’s right, “Waiting for Superman” moved all the way from 87 to 66.

“Baptized,” the band’s new album, also advanced, moving from 46 to 38 in its seventh week on the chart. The album had debuted at number six.

Who knows? It might fare better yet a week from now.

Some of the Daughtry fans who asked questions during a Friday afternoon Facebook Q&A with Chris apparently weren’t even aware the band had a new album out.

Chris set them straight on that, and answered a variety of other questions.

His favorite song to perform: “Baptized,” the title track from the new album.

The band he’d most like to perform with: U2.

The singer he’d most like to sing with: Prince.

You’ll recall the Chris has recorded a duet with Kelly Clarkson. One fan asked when we’ll get to hear that duet.

Chris’ response: “It’s not up to me but hopefully one day y’all get to hear it. It’s really amazing!”

Now, here’s the rest of that Billboard chart from last Thursday.
