Blake Shelton paired up two of his impressive country singers for a battle round match on Monday’s episode of The Voice.

Dexter Roberts, 27, a former Top 7 finisher on American Idol, had turned four chairs during the blind audition with his cover of “Like a Cowboy.”

Dalton Dover, seven years his junior, landed a spot on Team Blake with a blind audition performance of Keith Whitley’s “Don’t Close Your Eyes.”

The song: ‘Hurricane” by Luke Combs
The feedback: Kelly Clarkson called the performance pretty even, but gave a slight edge to Dexter. John Legend said he liked Dalton’s voice more, but though Dexter showed more skill. Adam Levine said they were both awesome. Blake Shelton called choosing between the two “a sucky” moment.
The outcome: Blake declared Dexter the winner. No one stole Dalton, meaning he was eliminated.
My take: This really wasn’t close, and that’s no knock on Dalton, because he turned in a solid performance. But Dexter displayed rich, powerful and distinct country vocals that cut through like a knife. If you’re looking for a country favorite among the Season 16 cast, Dexter’s it.
