Hear more from American Idol’s Emmanuel Zidor

One of the most emotional responses to a golden ticket to Hollywood came from Emmanuel Zidor at the San Francisco auditions.

Seems he had a seventh-grade teacher who told him he’d never be good enough to be on American Idol.

Emmanuel proved that teacher wrong, getting “yes” votes from all three judges after singing Whitney Houston’s “I Believe in You and Me.”

For a moment though, viewers had to wonder how this audition was going to turn out.

Emmanuel half-crawled, half-walked out of the holding chamber, already belting out a tune.

And he half-scared Jennifer Lopez in the process. But she was soon smiling.

Judging from pre-Idol online reference sources, the 24-year-old airline ramp agent from Miami performs as Jay Zidor, and he has a sense of humor.

Head to his YouTube channel and you’ll find a video of him trying to twerk and another of him doing a Britney Spears impersonation.

Apparently, he’s also a huge Beyonce fan. Her photos not only appear all around his Twitter page (@iamJzidor), but she’s listed under “work” and “education” on his Facebook page with this notation: “Biggest Fan: March 1998 to present.”

Besides Beyonce, Emmanuel points to 1970s disco singer Sylvester as a major influence.

“My music stands out in the competition and real world, because I talk about the real, about what people want to hear,” Emmanuel says in his Road to Hollywood video, adding that his goal is to make people forget about their real-world problems while watching him perform.
