Fan voting begins Sunday and Monday nights on American Idol as the Top 24 take the stage, with 12 artists performing each night.

So here’s look at how to vote and when to vote.

There are three methods for voting, and fans can cast up to 10 votes per method, per contestant.

That’s 30 votes for a contestant if you decide to vote via all three methods. Those methods …

* Using the American Idol app, available through the Google Play or Apple App Store

* Voting through the American Idol website at AmericanIdol.com/Vote

* Voting via text message to 21523. Each contestant’s number for text voting will be revealed as they perform during the show. Several of the Sunday singers have already revealed their text numbers, as indicated in parenthesis below.

Voting on both nights opens when the show starts, at 8 p.m. eastern time. Voting continues after each show until 6 a.m. the next morning.

The field is being cut from a Top 24 to a Top 20, with the lowest two vote-getters from each night going home.

The results from the Sunday and Monday voting will likely be revealed at that start of the Sunday, April 14, show.

Then the remaining contestants will perform and fans can start voting all over again.

No word yet on how long the April 14 voting will last, but by the end of the Monday, April 15 show, only 14 contestants will remain.

That’s right, after cutting four singers from the Top 24, Idol plans to cut six more next week to create a Top 14.

The last time Idol had a Top 14 was in Season 20. That year, 10 members Top 14 were selected based on fan voting.

Then, after everyone performed, the judges then made four wild card picks to complete the Top 14.

Now, back to this week’s performances.

As previously reported, Tori Kelly will mentor the Sunday night group, which will include Abi Carter (8), Blake Proehl, Hailey Mia (1), Jayna Elise (3), Jordan Anthony (2), Julia Gagnon (4), K.B. (Kaibrienne) Richins, Kayko, McKenna Breinholt (12), Nya (6), Quintavious (9) and Will Moseley.

Jelly Roll will mentor the Monday performers. They will include Ajii, Elleigh Marie Francom, Emmy Russell, Jack Blocker, Jennifer Jeffries, K-Blocks, Kennedy Reid, Mackenzie Sol, Mia Matthews, Odell Bunton Jr. Roman Collins and Triston Harper.

Idol Chatter will be live blogging both nights with song by song grades.
