If Ryan Seacrest ever leaves American Idol as his role on NBC increases, we saw a potential replacement Thursday night.

Her name: Kellie Pickler.

Don’t laugh. I’d vote to see Kellie in the role of Idol host in a Nashville heartbeat.

Think about it. She’s one of the biggest personalities to ever hit the Idol stage.

She’s engaging. She’s personable. She’s so likeable.

And she’s been through the Idol process, so she’d be supportive of the contestants.

Skylar Laine tweeted about how thrilled she was to meet Kellie Thursday and couldn’t resist sending out a photo via Twitter even though “I look like crap cause I have no makeup on.”

Kellie almost immediately tweeted back: “I think your beautiful.”

And why do you think Ellen DeGeneres keeps inviting Kellie onto her show every couple of months?

Because Kellie Pickler makes great TV.

If you’re ever having a bad day, go to YouTube and look up clips of Kellie on Ellen, talking about frogs on her honeymoon, or providing tips on how to fish a dropped driver’s license out an appliance.

I guarantee it’ll brighten your day.

And she’d be perfect for Nigel’s bloated two-hour performance and one-hour results shows.

Need some filler.

Just wind Kellie up, give her a topic and let her talk.

I’ll guarantee it’d be more entertaining than much of the Idol filler we put up with now.
