Injoy Fountain tried out for American Idol back in 2018, but couldn’t quite snag a golden ticket to Hollywood.

So she went to The Voice Season 17 auditions to show what she was capable of.

Mission accomplished.

Her rousing audition performance of “7 Rings” by Ariana Grande, complete with some rapping, earned Injoy a spot on Team Kelly Clarkson.

Here’s what the 29-year-old from of Wichita, Kansas, told Voice Views about her blind audition experience.

Voice Views: How did you wind up auditioning for The Voice Season 17 and what prompted you to do it?

Injoy: Casting found me on Instagram. I thought it was spam honestly. I knew that this would be an opportunity of a lifetime. I went to callbacks in Kansas city! And the rest is history.

Voice Views: Why did you choose ““7 Rings” for your audition song? Wow, what a fun, energetic performance, by the way. Is that a song and a version you’ve done often?

Injoy: I told myself before going to LA that I wanted to challenge myself and really show everything I do. I knew the song really didn’t go anywhere vocally so I told the band I wanted a Beyoncé live experience at the beginning with big drum hits right from the jump and then I decided to rap a verse and add a few money notes to really grab the coaches attention. First time ever singing the song haha.

Voice Views: Why did you decide to join Team Kelly? Did you have a preference heading into the blind audition?

Injoy: I knew that I wanted Kelly or John to turn so when she did I just knew it would be her. And it’s been a full circle moment for me.

Voice Views: You auditioned for American Idol previously? Had you tried out for singing shows more than that one time? And how did that prepare you for auditioning on The Voice?

Injoy: I did and it crushed me to not get on the show. And that’s the main reason I chose Kelly! I’ve been auditioning for things for years so I was pretty comfortable but don’t get me wrong I was nervous until the lights hit my face.
