Jessie Lawrence turned just one chair with his blind audition cover of “All or Nothing” in the Voice Season 17 blind auditions.

No matter. That was enough to earn a spot on Team Gwen Stefani.

And Jessie wound up advancing all the way to the knockout round when Gwen used her only battle round steal on him following his acclaimed “Can’t Feel My Face” duet with Rose Short,

Jessie was eliminated from the show in a knockout round match that aired this week. He received praise for his performance of
“Dancing with a Stranger” by Sam Smith, but Gwen opted to advance Kyndal Inskeep instead.

Here’s what Jessie told Voice Views about his time on the show and his plans in music.

Voice Views: What do you consider your biggest takeaway / lesson learned from The Voice experience?

Jessie: The biggest takeaway and lesson that I learned from the Voice is you may be prepared for a plan that you devised, but there’s always something else that could happen and it could be great

Voice Views: The battles and knockouts were filmed over the summer. What have you been doing musically since then and where are you hoping The Voice experience leads?

Jessie: I have been taking the advice that I got from the vocal coach very seriously and I’ve been working on my voice and vocal technique and also writing new music hoping to record soon and hopefully get some gigs.

Voice Views: Do you plan to release new music anytime soon? If so, can you tell me about that — what you’re planning, what fans can expert in terms of sound and the timetable for doing?

Jessie: Well, right now, I’m in the beginning stages of crafting new music but the sound will always be adult contemporary pop with an alternative, R&B edge.

Voice Views: Is there anything else you’d like to add about The Voice experience?

Jessie: I just would like to say that the whole entire experience from the PAs to the producers to the coaches were amazing and timeless and I felt like I was adopted into the house of the Voice lol.
