Season 15 of American Idol is supposed to be all about finding a final champ and reflecting on the show’s 14-year history to this point.
But Idol found time for a surprise audition at the tail end of Monday’s Season 15 premiere, though I’m not sure how you call it a surprise when word leaked a while back that it was coming.
Kanye West showed up in the Idol audition room in San Francisco. Yep, somehow he found time while preparing for a presidential bid — if you saw his stoned, self-indulgent monologue during the American Music Awards, you know what I’m talking about — to grace the Idol judges with his presence.
Of course, cameras were present, so Kim Kardashian was on hand as well, still very pregnant with the baby who now bears the name Saint West.
Outside the audition room, she said: “I’m not nervous. I do really believe in him.”
Inside the audition room, Kanye rapped about Jennifer Lopez and had to be beeped out at least four times.
But Kanye landed a golden ticket, naturally. Though it might have been more fun it he hadn’t.
Ryan Seacrest called it “one of the biggest moments in Idol history.”
Huh? Was he joking?
