Season 13 Voice standout Karli Webster released her debut EP Friday.

It’s called “Bittersweet,” and it’s an impressive five-song collection produced by Dennis Herring.

In recent weeks, Karli, 22, had released two of the five songs as singles — “What’s a Gal To Do” and “When It’s Over,” a song about overcoming anxiety.

The new songs include the title track, “Anyone” and “Catching Air.”

The latter, written by by a 15-year-old, insecure Karli, was especially in need of the facelift her producer and collaborators provided, she said. Mission accomplished. It’s now a catchy pop tune.

And though everyone looks sad in the short video promoting “Anyone,” Karli assures fans it’s a happy song, not to mention “easily the most personal” on the EP. It’s also a tender, often plaintive vocal and the highlight of the EP.

Karli writes that “Anyone” is “a collection of little stories of people who have come and gone throughout my life and have tried to tell me who they expected me to be.

“It’s a peaceful understanding that I am exactly who I’m supposed to be, regardless of whoever might not think it’s good enough. You don’t need anyone to tell you who they think you are.”

As for “Bittersweet,” the title track, Karli calls it “one of my most favorite songs I’ve ever written.”

“When I started writing his song, the melody haunted me for weeks. The song turned into this femme fatale eeire theme of ‘you don’t know who you’re messing with.'”

The songs on the EP mark the first releases from Karli since she finished Top 24 on Season 13 and scored an iTunes hit with Addison Agen with their cover of “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.”
