Kelly Clarkson, the original Idol, released her 10th album Friday.

“Chemistry” is 14 songs strong, focusing on her relationship with former husband Brandon Blackstock.

The two separated in 2020 after about seven years together; their divorce was finalized last year.

That doesn’t mean the album is nothing but breakup songs.

In fact, Kelly told Today that she texted her ex about the album at one point.

” I was like, ‘Hey, I didn’t just diminish us down to one (thing).’ You know what I’m saying? It’s all in there, the ride. The beauty is in there, as well. Now, there’s a lot of pain, but that’s what happens, for all of us.”

In a video message to fans, she said her hope for the album is that it will help others cope during rough periods in their lives.

Jesse Shatkin and Jason Halbert. Steve Martin plays banjo on “I Hate Love.” Sheila E plays drums on “That’s Right.”

On Wednesday, nearly a week after its released, “Chemistry” was sitting at number 21 on Apple Music’s top albums list.

And if you’re a fan who still prefers to have physical copies of music, Kelly has lots of options for you on her website, including various vinyl versions of the album and autographed CDs.

Oh, and as a side note, Blake Shelton’s last season on The Voice might have been Kelly’s last as well.

Her talk show, previously filmed in Los Angeles, has moved to New York.

Kelly won’t be a coach on Seasn 24 of The Voice this fall. And when NBC announced coaches for Season 25 next spring, Kelly’s name wasn’t on the list either.

She was asked about her future as a Voice coach when she talked to American Songwriter about the new album.

Said Kelly: “Well, let me lead with this: I love The Voice. I love working with all those people. I love working with different artists.

“My move is gonna make it quite difficult to do the show, so I never want to say never, but it’s definitely gonna change … I’m moving to New York, and the show doesn’t tape in New York, but I never like to say never because I just love the team so much.”
