After The Voice

Knife-wielding Melanie Martinez lashes out in her latest music video

Martinez promised a video for every single song from her “Cry Baby” album.

This week, she got one step closer to that goal with the release of a video for “Alphabet Boy.”

In it, her knife-wielding Cry Baby character lashes out at a guy who thinks he’s intellectually superior.

Clearly, he doesn’t know Melanie very well.

As with most of her videos, Melanie directed this one as well. It debuted Thursday and, by Saturday evening, had already attracted more than 2.5 million views on YouTube.

What else is up with the 21-year-old former contestant on The Voice?

Well, most of the shows on the first leg of a European tour later this year are sold out, so Melanie’s just announced a second leg of that tour that includes stops in France, Germany, Italy and Spain and several shows in the U.K.

She’s got dozens of U.S. dates scheduled between now and then, including a June performance at the Capital Pride Festival in D.C., a June 15 performance as part of TrendFest 2016 at the Giant Center in Hershey, Pa., and a solo show on July 24 in Pittsburgh.

You can check out all Melanie’s tour dates on her Facebook page.

And she recently told fusetv.com that she’s started work on a second album, on which the Cry Baby character will return as narrator singing stories about characters who live in a certain place she isn’t ready to divulge.
