Post-Voice music released recently includes singles from LACES (formerly Charlotte Sometimes), Kelsie Watts, Emmalee, Cali Wilson and Hunter Plake.

Here’s a bit about each of those releases.

The links take you to the songs on Apple Music. Or you can check out the Spotify snippets below.

* LACES, aka Jessica Poland Vaughn, aka Charlotte Sometimes from Season 2 for Voice fans, has a new song out called “Breaking My Heart.” Writes Jessica: “I hope you bop and cry to this song… I know I did. It was challenging writing a song about the push and pull of wanting it all and leaving with nothing. They say all is fair in love and war, but is it really? It seems we all end up losers in the game. The song explores the hearts we hurt along the way and, most importantly, what that hurt does to the relationship we have with ourselves.” Tone Def co-wrote the song. And now there’s a matching music video, Jessica’s first since 2008. “I’m not going to lie … I just wanted to live out my ‘90s music video fantasy,” writes Jessica. “And I did just that!”

* Kelsie Watts from Season 19 has released a catchy pop tune named “Difficult” that would sound at home on a Taylor Swift pop album. It’s about a girl who keeps her guy guessing because she’s … well, difficult. And it seems he wouldn’t have it any other way. NicoTheOwl collaborated with Kelsie on the track. The song was written by Chris Jobe, Casey Cook, Jake Scott and Tyler James Bellinger.

* Cali Wilson from Season 17 released “New Colors” late last month. Her third single since the show, she describes it as a song “about getting through the hard times with a new outlook. Seeing the new colors in life.” And, yep, there’s a reference to 2020 finally coming to an end.

* Emmalee, a singer-songwriter from Season 19, has released “Pages,” her first single since the show. She says she wrote the song in quarantine about her best friends. “I think Covid helped us reflect and what and who is really important to us,” she says. There’s a lyric video too.

* Hunter Plake, Top 6 on Season 12, has collaborated with singer-songwriter Kim Meadowlark on her debut single, “High Emotions.” Writes Kim: “I wrote this song last year on a flight home from San Diego. Sent it over to my insanely talented friend @hunterplake , and he brought it to life. I loved hearing his voice on this just with some of the prep work he was doing, and I’m sooo so beyond thankful we ended up singing on this together.”
